Port, be gone!

I'm home! Surgery went well, but I do have to admit, I got a little freaked out during the procedure. Everything was numb, but I could feel lots of pressure, tugging, yanking, etc. It felt really strange. I got splattered in the face with blood and at one point I got really hot and started sweating. I made it through though. Here are some pictures of my port.

Before

I got all my chemo through this little alien baby.

After

Goodbye old port. Thank you for all you've done for me, but it is time to part ways. I am moving on to better things! :)

They put a pressure dressing on and I have to leave it on all day. My doctor also wants me upright, so I don't bleed.

When I got to recovery one of the nurses made the comment, "Wow, you are really becoming a regular. You keep coming here, we will have to give you a job!" One of the other nurses chimed in "I gave her an application last time she was here!" They remembered me.....I was really hoping they wouldn't, because I'm pretty sure I embarrassed my self. My sister told me I was so funny while talking to them in my drug induced state and I don't remember any of it. They probably have my name wrote down on a do not hire list! lol

I guess they are doing some casual position hiring right now, so as soon as I know my reconstruction surgery date I am going to fill out my application and turn it in there. I figure I would be able to work there casual to get my foot in the door, while working at the hospital part-time. That way I would have my benefits that a casual position doesn't give. We'll see what happens when the time comes.

  1. Congrats on the port removal! My surgeon gave me mine to keep, but that's because we both have a weird sense of humor. I keep joking I'm going to crochet it into a Christmas ornament or something.
