Yesterday and today I have had coffee ground looking stools, which can mean an upper GI bleed. That happens to be one of the side effects of the Avastin I get, so my oncologist's office wanted me to go to the emergency room to get checked out.
It was in fact a GI bleed, but my blood counts were good, so I did not require a blood transfusion. I will follow up with my oncologist tomorrow and my surgeon on Tuesday. My surgeon rocks and gave me his home phone number to call if the bleed should get worse over the weekend. He said he would meet me at the ER if needed.
The ER doc said I will need a scope to figure out what is causing the bleed. BOOOOOOO!
