"Everything will be okay!"

Whenever I have a test, scan, or doctor's appointment, there are always tons of well wishers. I know they love me and want me to live a long life, but how can they say "Everything will be okay"?

Everyone thought my breast ultrasound, mammogram, and biopsy were all going to be okay. THEY WEREN'T! You know this!!!

I have had cancer. It can come back. How can you tell me "Everything will be okay"? Do you have a crystal ball????, because I would really love to know what the future holds. The truth is we don't know. My cancer could come back at any time.

I know, think positive. Don't be "Debbie Downer". Well, I'm sorry but there are women who statistically should still be here and they are not.

I think I am entitled to the occasional freak out.

So, what do you say when I'm freaking out? Just say, "I really hope everything is okay" or "I'll be here for you no matter what".

Something, anything, just don't tell me you know I'm going to be okay.

  1. You are absolutely entitled to a freak-out. I've been thinking of you, and I'm here if you need anything :)

  3. I can't even imagine living with those dreaded thoughts. I just wanted to say "I really hope everything is okay" and "I'll be here for you no matter what". Let me know if I can do anything at all for you or your family.

  4. Thanks girls! I appreciate it. I just get frustrated with people trying to blow rainbows and butterflies up my butt, when I know it could be bad news. I'm sorry, I can't always be positive. Not after cancer anyway.
